An important purpose of the Global Day of Prayer is to encourage God's whole family to meet together in one place each year on
Pentecost Sunday. Our desire is to please Him according to Jesus' prayer in John 17 with prayers and praise offered in His name in
an atmosphere of unity and harmony. Each year there has been a growing sense of God's presence at this event.
The Global Day of Prayer will begin as the sun rises in the East (Fiji) and will not end until the sun sets in the West (Hawaii).
Towns and cities will be uniting in repentance & prayer at stadiums, churches, market squares, etc.
In "closed" countries, creative Christians will make a way to pray together.
In St. Louis, Christians will join the world in prayer by meeting on Pentecost Sunday at St. Louis University's Chaifetz Arena starting at 4 p.m. It will be a celebration of unified prayer to God and of the healing power He can bring to our world, our nation, our communities and our families.
We plan to celebrate Jesus with prayers and praise music that will include both traditional
and contemporary songs. Prayers
will include liturgical, spontaneous, congregational, small group, one on
one, singing and silent. Banners and flags will be carried by praise and
dance teams honoring God. Song lyrics and scenes from around the world will
be seen on the large video boards. The presence and power of God will be
sensed and prayer lives will be energized. There will be no speeches,
sermons, or homilies, and no one will be introduced by title or
affiliation. This will be a time when only the name of Jesus will be
lifted up.
The physically handicapped are particularly encouraged to join us including the hearing impaired,
as interpretation will be offered.
